"There has been many arguments regarding the family of Simon Landry and Charlotte Boudrot. It is believe by many that there was only one couple of Simon Landry and Charlotte Boudrot but others believe that there weren't. This is what we know: ONE Simon Landry (husband of Charlotte Boudrot) was the son of Alexandre Landry and Madaleine Marchand of Petit de Grat. He was born circa 1797 at Petit de Grat and died in 1876, prob at Petit de Grat. This Simon was nicknamed "Le Grand" because of his tremendous size.

On the other hand, ONE Simon Landry (husband of Charlotte Boudrot) was born circa 1794 and died on April 7, 1879 at D'Escousse.

And again, it is believed that ANOTHER Simon Landry and Charlotte Boudrot (same age) were living in Petite Anse, in Petit de Grat aswell. Simon Landry was an extremely common name, and Charlotte Boudrot was common as well. Could they all have been the same couple? If so, they had many children born in Petit de Grat, Petite Anse and in D'Escousse.

This family would have been the family of Simon "Le Grand" Landry of Petit de Grat. All information on their children comes from Annette Fougere of D'Escousse."

      Simon Landry #23110
In the 1838 census, Simon Landry and C. were living on Isle Madame described as: Township of Arichat say from the mainguy to and including Glasky Point in Richmond County (encompasses D'Escousse, Isle Madame)." It reads:
      "Simon Landry and C, Fisherman, 1 M-6 (male under 6); 1 F-6 (female under 6); 2 M-14 (2 males between 6 and 14); O F-14 (female under 14); 0 M+14 (males over 14); 1 F+14 (female over 14); Total: 7 individuals in hosehold"
Simon Landry Sn., along with Joseph Provost, purchased land in Poulamon on the 17 of October, 1862, from James Shaw. This piece of land was described as follows:
"Piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being at Poulamon, in the County of Richmond, in the Province of Nova Scotia, and being more particularly situated on the south side of Lennox Passage, and being one fourth of that lot of two chains in width from front to rear."
This piece of land was passed on, generation to generation. Simon Sn passed it on to Simon Jr. and his wife Philomene LeBlanc; Simon Jr. passed it on to his son Theophilus and his wife Mary-Barbe Landry; Theophilus passed it on to his daughter Henriette-Anne DesRoches; and Henriette-Anne passed it on to her grandchildren Anthony J. DeRoche and Peter S. Elliott, the present owners.
In the 1871 census of D'Escousse, Simon was 74 and Charlotte was 73. Living in their home was their son Simon, aged 31, his wife Philomene, aged 23 and their 3 month old son, Theophilus.
Simon and Charlotte are not listed in any further census. "

      Note de Ben Londeree.
"According to Peter Landry, there were two Pierre Simon Landrys who married a Charlotte Boudreau. (www.bluepete.com/Genealogy/LandryCB.htm) Therefore it sometimes was difficult to know which was which in the records. It appeared to me that one lived primarily in Arichat and the other one lived primarily in D'Escousse - particularly after about 1830. This one lived in Arichat. He was very large leading to his nickname to distinguish him from another Simon Landry who also married a Charlotte Boudrot. There may have been a third Simon Landry who married Charlotte Boudreau who lived in Petit Anse. " [2]
